Male Bactrocera tryoni flies maintained as adults on dry mixtures containing glucose plus > 9% yeast hydrolysate (amino acids and vitamin source), had mating probability, mating latency, copula duration and longevity similar to those to self-regulate intake. Without yeast hydrolysate, sexual performance (not longevity) was markedly reduced. Flies receiving > 50% yeast hydrolysate suffered marked reductions both in longevity and in mating performance.[1]
